Dear 6G,
Have a happy lunar new year.
It has been a pleasure teaching you. I could see improvements in Test 3. One of you got full marks. =) Do spend your time wisely and keep revising.

Metaphors
Metaphors are comparisons that show how two things that are not alike in most ways are similar in one important way. Metaphors are a way to describe something. Using metaphors can make your writing more interesting or entertaining.
E.g.
1) Jenny was such an angel. She offered her help even though she herself was very busy.
2) Richard was a bull - he charged at the bully for insulting his dressing.
You can use metaphors in your writing.

Introduction to composition
Today, we learnt about the importance of introductions. The first impression is formed at the very beginning and it is crucial to capture the attention of the audience.
Therefore, the introduction has to be captivating and it will be a bonus if it creates suspense as well. Be aware of your audience and write for their reading pleasure.
The ways to begin a composition are :
1) Using dialogues
2) Using flashbacks
3) Writing a description
4) Starting with the climax
5) Starting with a question
6) Starting with a proverb
There may be more ways than this. Let me know if you have fresh ways of beginning a composition.

Welcome, members of 6G.
My first impression of you is that you are a lively bunch. Do listen when I speak as it is important not to miss out important information in class.
I'm sure many have told you what an important year this is. Let's work together towards scoring A* or A for English. I believe you can do it if you put in your best effort. Do you believe you can?
I hope to know you better over the months.
May God bless you with joy, strength, determination, patience, gentleness in spirit and friendship.
